Created in 1981, in commemoration of the birth of Juan Eloy Valenzuela y Mantilla.

It was established as UIS Researcher’s Day, in commemoration of the birth of Juan Eloy Valenzuela y Mantilla.

It is held every two years under the leadership of the Office of Research and Extension.
