RESEARCH Lines
Phonographic Production
Objective: To develop research on sound material from diverse timbral and acoustic perspectives, with the aim of generating dissemination products that become subjects of study within interdisciplinary research projects.
Achievements and Impact: To make sound material visible from both conventional and non-conventional perspectives. Additionally, to generate phonographic records for the analysis and research of products within artistic disciplines and interdisciplinary projects. The aim is to generate, transfer, and disseminate new knowledge related to sound material, physical and acoustic phenomena in musical instruments, soundscapes, non-conventional environments, and sonic memory. In this way, the different segments that structure the cultural industry at the regional and national levels are strengthened, while also promoting the training of highly qualified human talent in science, technology, and innovation (STI) in these research areas.
Audiovisual Production
Objective: To promote the creation of new scientific knowledge surrounding audiovisual culture in its various manifestations, from a communicational, organizational, and interdisciplinary perspective, thereby strengthening the links between academia and the cultural and creative sectors.
Achievements and Impact: To establish a dynamic framework for participation and the enrichment of reflection and theoretical research on communication and audiovisual culture. In this regard, the aim is to understand the particularities of production processes, distribution, cultural consumption, and commercialization of audiovisual products within the contexts in which our University and its area of influence interact. Additionally, this research line seeks to foster exchange with academic peers regarding new ideas, reflections, methodologies, and research findings. It also aims to enhance academic and teaching processes through relevant and useful research outcomes that contribute to solving problems within the surrounding environment.
Science, Economy, Art, and Culture
Objective: To develop interdisciplinary projects that strengthen research from the sciences and the arts, promoting collaborative work and the analysis of the cultural, social, and scientific environment, with special emphasis on the economy of the cultural, creative, and knowledge sectors.
Achievements and Impact: To support research projects focused on culture, society, and science, including the economic analysis of the cultural and creative sectors. In this regard, the aim is to promote collaborative work among different areas of knowledge, engaging professors and students to foster an understanding of the contemporary environment. Additionally, this research line seeks to generate spaces for artistic and scientific dissemination that showcase new proposals and research results materialized in exhibition spaces, interpretations, or compositions of unpublished musical works; the publication of literary works; dance, theatrical, and museographic expressions, among others, including relevant economic aspects for the cultural and creative sector.

FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE
Percusión UIS
The Festival Internacional de Percusión UIS is one of the most important percussion festivals in Colombia. It has been held annually in the city of Bucaramanga since 2016. The festival aims to consolidate a cultural space in Santander focused on percussion, featuring an artistic program open to the academic community and the general public. It integrates girls, boys, youth, and their families into the pedagogical and artistic activities developed to promote coexistence and the construction of artistic values within the community.
ENCUENTRO DE PRODUCCIÓN
Independiente
The I Encuentro de Producción Independiente: Sonido e Imagen UIS emerged as an initiative to make visible and strengthen the processes of training, creation, and research developed through the Escuela Itinerante de Producción Audiovisual project of the MUSILAB UIS Student Research Group.
In a context where independent production has positioned itself as a key alternative to traditional models of content circulation and distribution, this event serves as a strategic platform to highlight emerging proposals and creative processes that arise from both academic and empirical experience.
SEMILLERO DE
Investigación Musilab
The MUSILAB Student Research Group is a research training space aimed at students, focused on developing competencies in research-creation within the phonographic, audiovisual, and artistic-technological lines.
Through both theoretical and practical processes, students actively engage in ongoing research, creation, and outreach projects, strengthening their critical thinking, technical skills, and interdisciplinary work capacity, in alignment with academic dynamics and processes of social appropriation of knowledge.
