ABOUT OUR Group
GISEL aims to contribute to research, education, innovation, and technological development in areas related to electricity markets, power quality and reliability, electric power system expansion and operation, and high-voltage engineering.
Accordingly, the group promotes knowledge generation and innovation to support the continuous development of the energy sector and the improvement of the organizational and regulatory frameworks governing Colombia’s electricity market. Its work is guided by technical, economic, safety, quality, and competitiveness criteria, as well as the efficient use of energy resources and environmental sustainability.

RESEARCH Lines
High Voltage and Lightning Protection
This research line focuses on lightning protection, insulation coordination, and the modeling and simulation of electromagnetic fields.
Power Electronics Applications
This research line focuses on modeling, simulation, and experimental development in active and reactive power compensation, power quality, electric mobility, energy storage, electric power system integration, industrial applications, and demand-side management.
Power Quality
This research line focuses on power quality monitoring, modeling and simulation, fault location, assessment, and mitigation.
Climate Change and Sustainable Development
This research line focuses on environmental, social, and productive sustainability models based on nanofertilizers, agrivoltaic systems, and energy communities. It also promotes education aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change.
Electric Power Management
This research line focuses on energy management systems, energy efficiency, the rational use of energy, green buildings, and data analytics.
Electric Power Systems
This research line focuses on the design, operation, control, modeling, and simulation of electric power systems, as well as electricity markets, regulatory frameworks, and data analytics.
Synthesis and Characterization of Materials
This research line focuses on photovoltaic materials, construction materials for buildings, nanotechnology, and data analytics.
Energy Transition
This research line focuses on renewable energy generation, smart grids, microgrids, modeling and simulation, electric mobility, and energy storage.
