Mathematics Education (EDUMAT)
ABOUT OUR Group
The Mathematics Education Research Group (EDUMAT), composed of students, faculty members, and alumni of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), as well as teachers from schools and universities across the Department of Santander, is committed to improving the quality of mathematics education both in the department and throughout Colombia. To achieve this goal, the group contributes to a variety of research lines that foster the professional and personal development of its members and the educational community of northeastern Colombia. EDUMAT has earned recognition at the departmental, national, and international levels, reflected in the High-Quality Accreditation of the Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, awarded for eight years by the National Accreditation Council (CNA).

UIS MATHEMATICS OLYMPIADS
(Primary and Secondary Education)
The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), aware of its academic and social responsibility to actively contribute to initiatives aimed at improving and strengthening mathematics education in the Department of Santander and its area of influence, offers the UIS Mathematics Olympiads, a program designed for primary and secondary school teachers and students.
This program seeks to promote, encourage, and stimulate the study of mathematics, recognizing its essential role in fostering critical thinking and a scientific mindset among children and young people at all levels of schooling. In addition, the UIS Mathematics Olympiads help participants strengthen their skills and develop competencies that contribute to improved academic performance in local and national knowledge assessments.

MATHEMATICS STUDENT
Research Group
This program, designed for students from first through ninth grade, provides a space where children and young people can explore mathematical knowledge through games, instructional materials, origami, problem solving, and the use of digital technologies.
The Mathematics Student Research Group seeks to foster the development of mathematical thinking in children and adolescents through the exploration and in-depth analysis of a variety of problem situations.
Students participate in workshops with a strong emphasis on recreational mathematics within a problem-solving approach. These activities contribute to the development of numerical, spatial, measurement, statistical, and variational thinking, enabling students to enjoy exploring the diverse dimensions of mathematics.

EULER MATHEMATICS
Club
The Mathematics Education Research Group (EDUMAT), in its commitment to strengthening the academic development of young people in Santander and promoting their early integration into university life, invites tenth- and eleventh-grade students from public schools in Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area to join the Euler Student Research Club.
The club aims to foster the development of students’ mathematical thinking through the exploration and solution of problems involving fundamental mathematical concepts. It also seeks to encourage students to pursue higher education at the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), with particular emphasis on degree programs related to mathematics.
