ABOUT OUr Group
PROMETEO is the first interdisciplinary group within the Faculty of Human Sciences and the first research group of the School of Social Work at the Universidad Industrial de Santander. Since its inception, the group has been committed to addressing and transforming the social issues affecting the regional context. Its research is guided by gender, differential, and human rights approaches, while also promoting respect for the environment.




RESEARCH Lines
Children, Women, and Families
This research line focuses on the analysis of family dynamics, children’s living conditions, and the social realities of women. It addresses issues such as gender-based violence, parenting, caregiving, comprehensive protection, and family transformations in contemporary contexts.
Social Work as a Discipline
This research line seeks to strengthen Social Work as an academic discipline through critical reflection on its theoretical, methodological, and ethical foundations. It aims to advance the production of situated knowledge that responds to contemporary social realities by promoting the analysis of fields of practice, the systematization of professional experiences, and innovation in professional practice.
Gender: Femininities, Masculinities, and LGBTI
This research line examines the social constructions of gender, including femininities, new masculinities, and diverse identities. It analyzes inequalities, discrimination, and violence based on gender and sexual orientation, while promoting equity, inclusion, and the recognition of rights.
Interculturality
This research line promotes the study of the relationships, tensions, and dialogues among diverse cultural traditions, recognizing the plurality of knowledge systems and worldviews that shape society. It focuses on analyzing the dynamics of coexistence, the recognition of others, and overcoming the structures of exclusion, racism, and coloniality that affect different population groups.
Peace, Conflict, and Democracy
This research line focuses on the study of social conflicts, violence, and peacebuilding processes across diverse contexts. It emphasizes the analysis of historical memory, social justice, reconciliation, and civic participation as fundamental elements for strengthening democracy.
Corporate Social Responsibility
This research line focuses on the analysis of interactions among productive organizations, the State, and civil society from an ethical and sustainability perspective. It examines management models that integrate economic performance with social well-being, environmental protection, and the promotion of human rights in corporate and workplace settings.
