ABOUT OUR Group
The Regional Observatory for Sustainable Human Development (ORDHS) studies the socio-environmental interactions that either constrain or promote well-being and sustainability. It conducts research and outreach projects related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with particular emphasis on Goal 1 (No Poverty), Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Goal 15 (Life on Land).
At the ORDHS, researchers examine the relationship between research and intervention from the perspective of Social Work, seeking evidence-based solutions to socio-environmental needs, conflicts, and challenges through territorial, differential, gender, and human rights approaches.

RESEARCH Lines
Socio-Environmental Conflicts and Integrated Risk Management
This research line seeks to understand the formation and consolidation of precarious informal settlements located in environmentally high-risk areas or protected zones (such as riverbanks, mountain slopes, and páramos), with the aim of contributing to the participatory development of development plans, land-use planning, and integrated risk management.
Care Practices, Family, and Social Well-Being
This research line examines care practices within family settings and the public and private social services involved in supporting children, adolescents, young people, and older adults. Its aim is to contribute to the design and implementation of social policy through differential, gender, and human rights approaches.
Poverty, Housing, and Social Protection
This research line examines the relationship between access to decent and adequate housing, social protection systems, and socio-urban intervention, with the aim of informing social policies and projects that promote the realization of economic, social, and cultural rights (ESCR) and enhance social well-being.
Research and Practice in Social Work
This research line examines the relationship between research and intervention in Social Work, with the aim of developing evidence-based solutions to social needs and challenges through a human rights-based approach.
Nature, Culture, and Health
This research line explores the interconnection between nature conservation, cultural heritage, and the protection of human health as a means of promoting social well-being.
Public Policy and Sustainable Human Development
This research line monitors and evaluates the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in northeastern Colombia, with the aim of contributing to the development of baseline data to support public policy design.
