ABOUT OUR Group
The Demography, Public Health, and Health Systems Research Group (GUINDESS) is part of the Department of Public Health, School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, at the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) in Bucaramanga, Colombia. The group was established in May 2002 and registered with Colciencias under Code COL0023976.
Since its inception, GUINDESS has been committed to bringing together professionals distinguished by their human, ethical, and scientific excellence. Its guiding philosophy is the pursuit of knowledge and the implementation of actions that promote physical, mental, and social health, with the aim of preventing and controlling diseases and events of public health interest to improve the population’s quality of life.
In line with this mission, GUINDESS strives to be one of Colombia’s leading public health research groups, with a strong commitment to serving and promoting the well-being of the population. Since 2015, it has maintained the highest research classification (A1) awarded by Colciencias, while continuing to address new epistemological challenges and generate knowledge that contributes to solving public health problems.
