ABOUT Our Group
The Regional Development and Land Use Planning Research Group (GIDROT), affiliated with the School of Economics and Administration, is an interdisciplinary research group that has conducted studies of a socioeconomic, historical, and environmental nature, with a regional focus. As a result, it is one of the research groups supporting the Master’s Program in Economics and Development, having produced technical studies and indicators for the design of regional integration scenarios. Development is regarded as its primary objective, grounded in theoretical and methodological frameworks that incorporate political, economic, social, historical, and cultural aspects from a holistic and comprehensive perspective.
RESEARCH Lines
This research line examines the processes that strengthen the well-being, equity, and inclusion of individuals and communities. It encompasses topics such as education, health, quality of life, and social cohesion.
This research line analyzes territorial dynamics and public policies that guide economic and social development in the regions, with a particular emphasis on the Department of Santander. It includes topics related to regional planning, regional competitiveness, citizen participation, as well as the evaluation of public programs and policies.
This research line examines the relationship between society, the environment, and territory in order to promote the sustainable use of resources. It includes the effects of climate change on regions, risk management, as well as urban and rural sustainability.
